The southern part of the Champagne appellation is a veritable mosaic of small valleys with multiple exposures. We grow just over a hectare at Montier en L'Isle, near Bar sur Aube. Three quarters of the village's 60 hectares are planted with Pinot Noir. The vines are planted on steep slopes. The subsoil is mainly composed of marl, hard limestone and clay.
Our Aube vineyard is made up of five plots spread over two valleys, which we planted in 2002. The Chardonnay occupies 1⁄4 of our plot, the Pinots Noirs 3⁄4. 120 km separate us from Talus Saint Prix, but we are equipped to come and work our soils, protect our vines against disease in the spring and harvest with our team of grape-pickers.
Why did you extend your domain as far as Montier en l'isle? At the time, we were looking to compensate for the loss of an area taken over by one of our owners, and this land for planting was a great opportunity both to learn how to work another terroir and to limit the risks associated with the weather ;)
